I was fortunate enough to have a chance to receive and review a royal wedding letterbox cake by Bakerdays.
Bakerdays is a company which specialises in cakes that fit through your letterbox. The perfect gift – the person you send it to wouldn’t even need to be home. They also do personalised other sized cakes, cupcakes and balloons. The letterbox cake (pictured above) costs £14.99.
The Thursday before the Royal Wedding I got home to find a red card from the Royal Mail. I took a trip to the post office to find it was my Bakerdays cake. Unfortunately it was too big for my letterbox, however I tried it in a friends and it fitted through theirs…so my letterbox must just be a tad on the small size!
I (surprisingly) managed to resist the urge to open the cake up until the Royal Wedding day!
Unboxing the parcel I was delighted to find the cake inside a beautiful tin. It also came with a lovely thank you card! I always think small touches like that really make something wonderful!
Taking the lid of the tin I was very surprised to see my name spelt right on the cake…unfortunately it wasn’t my face in the picture with Prince Harry (a girl can dream). The personalistion on the cake was gorgeous and clear. All that was left to do now was to have a bite.
I was expecting a dry tasteless cake, however the cake was anything but dry. The taste was lovely, I enjoyed every mouthful. The amount of icing was perfect as well! I normally find icing is too sweet and sickly on most cakes but the Bakerdays one wasn’t. The only critism I would have is that it could have done with a bit more cream.
So my final verdict; I would definitely use bakerdays as a gift for family or a friend. I love the fact you can personalise the cakes, the taste is amazing and the cakes have a really good shelf life (two weeks).
So if you fancy giving Bakerdays a try yourself I have a code for 15% off until the 30th June – MEGHANBROOK15. Let me know if you end up ordering one, would love to hear what you think of them!
Hope everyone has a lovely bank holiday weekend!
